Firm Overview
Criminal Defense
My staff and I strive to provide quality criminal defense representation to all my clients in the southern Oregon area. We are committed, experienced and take our responsibilities seriously, knowing that the results we achieve for our clients will have a lasting impact on their lives.
I have more than fourteen years experience defending the rights of people entangled in the criminal justice systems of Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties as well as in the federal district of Oregon. I have represented people at every stage of the case beginning with initial investigations prior to any arrest and continuing through the appeal process where necessary. From the outset of my representation I will work with you to develop the factual and legal issues of your case. I strive to remain as current as possible with the statutes and case law so that I may recognize and develop all appropriate pre-trial motions for your benefit. Many criminal cases are settled by plea bargaining with the government and, if that is appropriate, I will work to develop a bargain that is as beneficial to you as possible. In those cases where it is not possible to bargain effectively I am willing and able to go to trial to represent your best interests.
Immigration Matters
My experience as a criminal defense attorney has exposed me to many different issues related to the law of immigration. As a result of that exposure, I have sought training in the representation of the rights of those who have emigrated from their homeland to this country seeking a better life for themselves and their families only to find themselves entangled with the various immigration agencies now under the umbrella of Department of Homeland Security. Immigration law is a complex and changing area of practice and the assistance of an attorney trained in that area is essential to assure that all issues are fully explored and the immigrant has as much information as possible before making life altering decisions about how to proceed and to ensure the immigrant has a zealous advocate in any agency proceedings.
Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Administration, Elder Law and Contested Matters.
I also provide a range of legal services in the area of estate planning services to those individuals and families in southern Oregon whose estates fall under the current federal estate tax exemption amount. This generally involves some or all of the following: Wills, Revocable Trusts, Advanced Health Care Directives and Durable Powers-of-Attorney.
Additionally, I handle the probate of estates, beginning with the initial petitions necessary and including the administration of the probate estate. And I also provide legal services in the areas of guardianships and conservatorships and elder law, including financial abuse of the elderly.
Finally, as a trial lawyer I am willing and able to litigate any contested matters that may arise during any of the above proceedings.
